Sunnydale School dominated both the boys’ and girls’ divisions to claim double championship honours in the “Polar Ice Cream Super Six School Handball Tournament 2025”, organised by the Bangladesh Handball Federation and sponsored by Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Ltd.
The Super Six phase concluded on Thursday at the Shaheed Captain M. Monsur Ali National Handball Stadium in Paltan, where Sunnydale sealed the boys’ crown with a commanding 36–17 win over Narinda Government High School. The champions led 16–9 at halftime and finished the campaign unbeaten, collecting 15 points from all five matches.
In the girls’ division, Sunnydale continued their fine form by defeating Viqarunnisa Noon School and College 12–9 in the final Super Six fixture. They led 7–4 at halftime and, like their boys’ team, secured the title with a perfect record of five wins from five matches.
Sunnydale’s Arif Ihtiram Khan was named the Best Player in the boys’ division, while Ishrat Mehjabin Raha received the same honour in the girls’ category.
Speaking after the match, Sunnydale captain Faraz Farhad expressed his delight: “It feels great to be champions again. We hope to maintain this form in the next tournament as well. Our coach deserves all the credit—he trained us tirelessly every morning throughout the year.”
Following this competition, another event will take place in home-and-away format, featuring four teams in each division.
Boys’ teams: Sunnydale, St Gregory’s High School and College, Narinda Government High School, and Nirjhor Cantonment Public School and College.
Girls’ teams: Sunnydale, Viqarunnisa Noon School, Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls’ School, and Sher-e-Bangla Girls’ College.
The Executive Director of the National Sports Council, Kazi Nazrul Islam, handed over the prizes to the champions, alongside Bangladesh Handball Federation General Secretary Salauddin Ahmed and other federation officials.
